Growth Committee News

On Tuesday, June 8th the Growth Committee presented its Final Report to the Church Council. The Report will be distributed to the Parish Membership by mail along with a cover letter from the Church Council concerning scheduling and upcoming opportunities for service.

The Church Council and our Administrator want to take this opportunity to thank all those who served on the Growth Committee for their dedication and hard work. With the Growth Committees help we have taken the first steps toward additional space and a more convenient area to worship and work. Since the Growth Committee has completed its mandate it was dissolved and the Church Council is now looking for volunteers to serve on the Finance Committee (which will be looking into all funding issues) and the Building Expansion Committee (which will be monitoring planning and renovation, if approved by the Parish Membership). Anyone is welcome and encouraged to serve on either of these essential committees. Please let a Church Council person or our Administrator know if you are interested or if you need more information. Committee assignments will be completed by August 1, 2010. Please don‟t be shy about participating in this important work and watch your mail for more detailed news very soon!

Volunteerism at Holy Spirit Church

Rolling Dough?

Marie Maruskin has been researching the benefits and cost of purchasing a Semi-Automatic Dough Rolling Machine to support our Bakery operations. If you have done any dough rolling lately you know that it really is hard work and not all that efficient when done by hand. After much research Marie has selected the DPR 3000 and we are announcing an opportunity for everyone to invest in this important part of our Bakery Operation. So far $1,660 has been received. We need a total of $3,000! The DPR 3000 is shown above and has the following features:

Maintenance free drive system.
Compact size fits just about anywhere.
Rolls dough up to and including 18″ diameter.

This item is not in the yearly church budget so we must pay for it by donations. Please see our Administrator for your opportunity to invest in this important part of the Bakery project.

Baking Project Begins

It is time to start thinking about our yearly Bakery schedule. Our Head Baker Marie Maruskin and our Administrator have been planning the baking schedule and it looks like we will be very busy and need lots of help. Following is a list of Thursday Baking Dates: August 26th, September 9th, September 23rd, October 14th, October 28th, and November 11th. There will also be baking preparation days on the Tuesdays and Wednesdays preceding the Thursday baking dates. Please see our Administrator or Marie Maruskin to see how you can participate in this very important Bakery Project!

Senior Moments

The Dormition Fast

The Dormition Fast for the Most Holy Theotokos begins today and runs through August 14th. Fast as you are able, always with prayer, focusing on something that has been particularly troublesome in your life. The Feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos will be celebrated on Sunday, August 15th. In addition, we will have the opportunity to attend Akathists to the Most Holy Theotokos on August 4th and August 13th at 6:00 pm. Please plan to attend these important services as we venerate the Mother of God.
