On Mother’s Day one senses it in a young mother as she hands her baby over to the priest at the forty-day blessing, or as she hands the baby to the godparent before the Baptism sacrament begins. It is the sense of hope in God and all the blessings and prayers that will be offered. With love for God and child, a mother dedicates her child to Him, unites the child with Christ’s Resurrection in baptism, and offers her faithful prayer that her baby will grow as a servant of God, prospering in faith and in life. Mothers around church are that way – faithful, hopeful and loving in God. That’s the way to raise kids, and that is why today we join the nation to honor our moms.
Special greetings to all of our Mothers, Grandmothers, Godmothers, Aunts and Women of our community. Thank you for all you do to guide and enhance our lives and for all your efforts at Holy Spirit Orthodox Church.
Also thank you to all the men of our community who offered a financial gift or participated in any way to make our Mother’s Day luncheon special.
