On May 6th The Sarasota County DRC (Development Review Committee) exempted Holy Spirit Church from a long list of development issues that would have complicated our Growth Program immensely and greatly diverted our financial resources. We are exempted from parking issues, storm-water, drainage, and storm-water retention and run-off issues, sanitary sewer issues, issues regarding property offsets, sidewalk construction issues, and landscaping and green space set back issues. Out of 12 Sarasota County Department Heads who analyzed the “general plan” presented by Van Con General Contractors all voted for full exemption with one hold out being the Fire Marshal who will analyze any further design specifications for the appropriate fire extinguishers. Our consultant did advise us however that we would be required to remove the exterior narthex to get the parking exemption.
This is a great beginning to our Growth Program and opens the door to significant improvement to our church property with no County oversight until actual building permits are requested. There are no site planning issues, we are cleared by the Sarasota County Development Review Committee!
Many thanks to the Church Council and our Administrator for their valuable advice and guidance and to the Church Growth Committee for their hard work and commitment to our Parish. Most of all, thank you for your prayers and continued support setting the stage for dramatically improved facilities at Holy Spirit Church. A Growth Program Status Report will be given to the Church Council on Tuesday, May 11th at 1:30 by Jeff Constant which will include general recommendations for future work.
